ARTISTS’ UNION OF ARMENIA
The Union was established on November 10, 1932.
 
The first congress took place in 1945. Between 1945 and 2018, 19 congresses were held. In 2018, at the 19th Congress of the Artists’ Union of Armenia held at the Cinema House in Yerevan, Suren Safaryan was elected Chairman of the Union.

The main objectives of the Union include: supporting Armenian painters, sculptors, and art critics in creating high-quality works of art; promoting the professional development of its members; expanding their international connections; popularizing their works; organizing exhibitions; and, where possible, arranging and financing their activities, among others. The Union organizes solo and group exhibitions, national and international festivals, and publishes artists’ catalogs. Lectures and meetings with figures of art and culture are held at the Union, and anniversary dates are celebrated.

On March 25, 2026, in the city of Yerevan, at the building of the Artists’ Union of Armenia, a meeting took place during which a “Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Partnership” (MoU) was solemnly signed between the Foundation for Regional Development of China-Armenia Relations and the Artists’ Union of Armenia.

The cooperation aims to develop cultural and creative programs, as well as to attract investments for the development of the Union.
It was also noted that the parties will jointly participate in the development and promotion of the activities of the prominent figure of the Armenian and Chinese peoples, Vardan Mamikonian.
The parties agreed to establish working groups to implement specific jointly developed programs.
                                                            
The meeting was held in a friendly
and constructive atmosphere.
The meeting was attended by members of the Union’s Board
and leading staff of the Foundation.
